Always make sure the hot & cold water supply
hoses are the right way round, (it differs from machine to machine) Make sure
the drain hose rises from floor level to at least 2/3rd's the height of the
machine, before dropping down into the waste pipe. This is because otherwise the
water inside the machine could run straight out as it fills.
Don't push the drain hose any more than 1/3rd the way down the waste pipe,
otherwise siphoning can result.
If the drain hose is to be connected to a
U-bend, make sure that it rises as high as possible under the draining
board, before dropping down into the connection. This is because otherwise
waste water from the sink can drain back into the washing machine.
No hot water supply?
Don't worry you just need to connect the
hot water supply hose to the cold water supply using a
' Y ' Piece hose connector, (Picture right)
your washing machine should heat up the water to the required temperature
using the internal water heater.
It’s also worth taking into consideration if you
don't connect the hot water supply hose, your detergent will remain in the soap
drawer instead of doing the wash, because it's usually the hot water supply that
rinses the detergent out of the soap drawer and into the wash.
